October of this past year was National Chiropractic Month and the ACA chose to focus on awareness of headaches and chiropractic. Statistics report nine out of ten Americans suffer with headaches. I see the truth in this statistic with every new patient that enters my office. Patients who come to my clinic for other reasons also report they suffer with headaches in addition to their primary complaint. Good heads shouldn’t hurt. The majority of headaches individuals suffer with come about gradually and the patient learns to needlessly “deal” with them. However, severe headaches can arise suddenly and these may require immediate medical attention.

Do you suffer with headaches? If so, I bet the Holiday season doesn’t make them any better and if you don’t normally suffer with headaches this time of year has plenty of reasons to cause headaches. What do you do when you get a headache or feel one coming on? Pop a pill, lie down and rest, or push through it. There can be a better, natural alternative.
Ninety-five percent of headaches are primary headaches. These include tension, migraine and cluster headaches. A primary headache means the headache itself is the primary concern and is not a symptom of another underlying problem. A large majority of primary headaches are caused or exacerbated by joint irritation and muscle tension in the neck. Let’s discuss natural ways to relieve your headache.
